The Annual Puerto Rican Heritage Parade in Aurora, Illinois was first held in 1967. The last week in July is honored as Puerto Rican Heritage Week by the City of Aurora through the raising of the flag on the first weekend of the honorary week.
The parade is held on the last Sunday of the Puerto Rican Week. It is a time for the Puerto Rican community to celebrate their culture with the public. A trophy is rewarded to the parade unit that best celebrates the parade theme.
